Situated in south-east London, on the south bank of the Thames, is the lush green town of Greenwich, which is renowned for its maritime history, having given its name to Greenwich Meridian and Greenwich Mean Time. While it is possible to see the towering skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in the distance, Greenwich offers a peaceful alternative to the city streets.
Plans have been drawn up to increase the cruise capacity at Greenwich by opening London’s first passenger cruise terminal. Although many cruises do currently embark from London, Greenwich will be home to the capital’s first dedicated terminal. At present, Viking Cruises currently operate a series of Baltic and Scandinavia itineraries out of Greenwich Pier.
Getting to Greenwich is easy by train, with Greenwich station and the Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich underground station situated close to the pier.
